asword -- pronounced ah-sord -- Like the sword of human discovery, an asword is a long, sharp weapon that can pierce the "skin" of golafe. An asword is made of energy that is different from the energy that is found in golafe, just as a sword is made of matter that is different from the matter found in humans. The asword is the weapon of choice among golafe. There are higher- level weapons that can pierce and kill at a distance; however, they are considered to be weapons of dishonor.

blue shift -- A spectral shift toward blue that indicates that the relative positions of stars or galaxies are coming closer together. Almost all galaxies that can be seen from Earth show a "red shift" and are moving farther away from each other due to curstar expansion. One noted exception is the Andromeda galaxy, a gigantic, spiral-shaped burst of stars that shows a blue shift. This is because Setané has commandeered Andromeda and plans to ram it into our own Milky Way galaxy. Such a collision usually kills all forms of stream-life in both galaxies.

blooz -- pronounced bluz (short "u" sound) -- This is the golafe equivalent of human blood. When golafe are wounded, energy in the form of blooz can escape pierced skin. This is called "bleezing" and can range from superficial, through serious and critical, right down to fatal.

cluster -- A group of two or more stars or galaxies.

Cosmos -- The area of space in which we live. Cosmos is large enough to contain our solar system, our galaxy, our galaxy cluster, the spiral arm that includes our cluster, and six other spiral arms that all revolve around the central remnants of our curstar. Cosmos is presently torn by war between evil factions led by Setané and good forces headed by Jovishé. Cosmos was not always thus. From the time of the bursting curstar, about ninety-five trillennia ago, until perhaps twelve trillennia ago, there was peace in Cosmos. Stream-life and golafe toured the curstar spiral, living, loving and exploring under the ever watchful and caring eyes of Smietank, Temprasl and their children. It is hoped by many that soon Cosmos will once again become a peaceful flower of the universe.

curstar -- A huge, bright, spinning mass made of mostly white-hot, burning hydrogen. A ripe curstar contains enough mass to spawn billions of galaxy clusters, enough energy to sustain millions of golafe for trillions of years. Curstars are believed to form in the central regions of huge areas of desolate space. Slowly, hydrogen gathers and ignites. As the curstar grows, its gravity increases drawing in more hydrogen from surrounding space. As long as it draws in more hydrogen than it burns, a curstar will continue to grow. This is a stable curstar. If a curstar consumes more hydrogen than it takes in, then it is considered unstable. It loses its hydrogen buoyancy and will soon fizzle out. In golafe mythology, this is the imploding stage of a monstrous quarzh.

curstar spiral -- A curstar spiral results from a ripe curstar exploding into space. A catalyst is required to induce a curstar to spiral. Otherwise, a curstar can remain stable for an immeasurably long period of time.

Dazlos -- An area of space a great distance from Cosmos. Dazlos is said to have been a thriving, although war-torn curstar spiral that was consumed overnight by a monstrous quarzh. Now desolate, Dazlos is rumored to have a young, stable curstar forming at its center.

evil -- In accord with "Tank's Code," evil is a wanton disrespect for the lives of others. Evil takes life indiscriminately and without regard for the consequences. The evil warriors take no prisoners, dispatching warriors who fight for the good to wondeath without giving a second thought.

gods -- The gods are golafe in another form. While nearly all living beings on a planet such as Earth are imprisoned warriors captured in battle, the gods are Jovishé's and Gahn's warriors recuperating from battle wounds. Gods are powerful beings who watch over and care for a planet and its other lifeforms.

NOTE: You must try hard not to see this through the tinted glass of your upbringing. This is not about religion. This is about truth.

golafe -- pronounced goh-lahf -- (sing. gola) -- Golafe are living beings made of energy. They possess a protective "skin" that covers their vital internal parts. In form and image, golafe resemble human beings. In size, golafe resemble small star clusters. Just as animals perceive time differently (a day to a human is more like seven or eight days to a dog or a cat), golafe see the passage of time very differently. A day to a human is more like 1/60th of a second to a gola, and a day to a gola is roughly 14,400 years on Earth. If golafe were to be seen from Earth (most of their energy vibrations fall outside the visible light spectrum), they would appear to us not to move. From our perspective, golafe move so slowly that, like even the nearest stars, many centuries would pass before we would note any motion. It seems ironic that golafe see our planetary life as "slow-life." This term refers to our slower perception of all motion. We see, for example, the Earth takes a long time to go around the Sun. Earth spins about three hundred and sixty-five times during this long period we call a "year." Golafe see Earth go around the Sun in what we would measure as about six seconds.

good -- Only exists when there is evil about. Good is opposed to evil and disappears when evil vanishes. When there exists no evil nor good in civilization, then there is peace, along with its own brand of challenge!

light-year -- A measure of distance (not time). A light-year is the distance that light can travel in the period of a year. Equal to almost six trillion miles.

New Event -- When a ripe curstar explodes into a spiral, the moment of the initial burst is called the New Event. For Cosmos, we on Earth refer to this moment as the "Big Bang."

peace -- Passage of time during which no war is going on. Peace is an absence of war. It is only during peace that life can grow, only during peace that true love can flourish.

power of life -- (see power of time.)

power of time -- The ability to briefly stop time. This power is reserved for golafe elders, who have been trained in its wise usage. This power, presently in the hands of elders Jovishé and Gahn, is also used to communicate between golafe and stream-life.

proof/evidence -- Proof that my words are true is not available. Evidence that you will remain a prisoner on Earth for as long as it takes for you to sincerely choose the good will not be forthcoming. If you had such proof, would it not then be silly, even stupid to choose evil? Providing proof that what I say is true would insult your existence. By making your choice based on faith and trust, and not based on proof, you are seen as an intelligent being capable of wisdom, and in possession of the RIGHT TO DECIDE for yourself whether or not good is better than evil for you.
. . . . . There are more than enough examples on Earth to help you deeply and sincerely decide between good and evil. We want you to learn from these examples and to assess for yourself which is better for you. You are not a machine! Nor are you a puppet with strings to be yanked by evidence and proof! You are a warrior, a highly evolved being capable of making a choice based on what you learn while you are here on Earth.

Come . . . Join the Good Fight!

. . . . . I don't usually do parables; it's not my area. Just this once, though:

. . . . . A very wealthy man has two children, a son and a daughter. To his son the man says that, when he turns eighteen years old, he will give him lots of money. All the father asks is that the son do everything his dad wants him to do. Then he proceeds to show his son loads of cash, a checkbook register with a huge balance showing, and a real estate/stock portfolio that makes his son's eyes bug out!
. . . . . Then the man says the same to his daughter. He tells her that if she does everything her father asks of her, she will receive a lot of money when she turns eighteen. He does not show his daughter the "proof" that he is rich. Which child will choose the father's ways just to get the benefits? And which child will consider the choices and make a decision that is based on careful weighing of the options? His son has "proof" and his daughter must trust her father and have faith that her dad will follow through. The more trouble we have believing something, the more faith we have to muster to be able to accept it as truth.

Faith and doubt: Two sides of the same coin?

quadrillennium -- (pl. quadrillennia) -- A quadrillennium is a period of time equal to one trillion years as measured by present-day laps of Earth around the Sun.

quarzh, monstrous -- A quarzh is a black hole, an event in space with gravity pull so strong that even light cannot escape it. A monstrous quarzh is larger even than a ripe curstar. MQ's roam through space swallowing huge quantities of matter and energy. No one has ever seen an MQ; however, it was theorized that such was the fate of Dazlos, a war-torn curstar spiral community far distant from Cosmos.

red shift -- A spectral shift toward red that indicates that the relative positions of stars or galaxies are becoming farther apart. (See also blue shift.)

rehab star -- The planets circling these stars are more advanced than those of training stars. A rehab planet houses higher life forms. Danger usually still exists, and is sometimes more challenging than a training planet, as is the case with Earth. A rehab star is used primarily to rehabilitate captured enemy warriors. A secondary function of rehabs is to serve as places for injured warriors of both factions to convalesce. Being in slow-life form allows for speedy recoveries and quick returns to battle for those warriors who will fight for Jovishé.

sex -- I know, I know; it is hard to believe that I have to include this term in the glossary. After all, we humans know ehhhhverything there is to know about sex, isn't this so? However, the question has arisen as to the nature of making love when existing as golafe. It is, logistically, very similar to sex on Earth, only . . . better. Orgasms are called "energasms" and, while they vary in intensity just as they do for animals and plants on Earth, even the least intense energasm buries the most joyful of orgasms. There are few things in Cosmos that are as pleasurable as giving and getting energasms with a loving partner, especially during times of peace. At least, so I am told. In my short lifetime I have known only war. During war one must take one's sex on the fly, as it were. And if it is even better during peacetime, then I for one am all for winning this damn war and getting back to peaceful times!

slow-life -- Also called "stream-life." A slow-life form is made of matter, an extremely slow form of energy. These forms are very small and can exist on tiny planets that encircle stars in orbits that are within the Stream-Life Orbital Windows of the stars. During times of peace, stream-life forms are able to develop the intelligence and wisdom to explore outside of their solar systems. Stream-life has the ability to see things in ways that are unavailable to golafe. This is why golafe take on slow-life forms during times of peace. In wartime, slow-life forms are used by warriors to recover from battle wounds. They can also be used to imprison the enemy within a solar system. Those prisoners who learn about "the good," and who decide that they prefer not to be evil, are released to once again become golafe. They usually fight for Jovishé to help us end this war. Some decide to remain neutral, and a few have gone off to roam space.

spiral arm -- A spiral arm is a curved extension from a central point. It can be made of galaxy clusters spinning outward from an exploded curstar. Also, a spiral arm can be made of stars and solar systems spinning outward from the center of a galaxy. Our curstar developed seven spiral arms after the original golafe caused it to explode.

stream life -- (see slow-life.)

Stream-Life Orbital Window -- This is a sharply defined window of orbital distance from a star. The size and distance varies with each star. For the Sun, this window is many millions of miles wide. Earth is the third planet to enter this window and to become habitable by stream-life. The planets Sol and Mars once orbited the Sun within this window. Each in turn slowly moved farther away from the Sun and eventually left the window. Training planets and rehab planets always orbit their stars within the S.L.O.W.

time -- Ongoing, irreversible and usually unstoppable, time is a passage from one event to the next. The sole known exception is the ability to stop time briefly. This is called the "power of time" or the "power of life." Time is Life!

training star -- These are established by Gahn to train young warriors. Usually in the early stages of life-evolution, the planets circling these stars maintain primitive and dangerous life forms. Warriors in training take on forms that teach them offense and defense. Knowledge of offensive strategies is important to an understanding of the enemy. And there have been a few occasions when the forces of good have launched offensives against Setané's evil armies. Most or our time, however, is spent defending against Setané's attacks.

trillennium -- (pl. trillennia) -- A trillennium is a period of time equal to one billion years as measured by present-day revolutions of Earth around the Sun.

Wondeath -- Sometimes just referred to as "the Won." All that is known about Wondeath is that when a gola is fatally pierced, all inner vital energy is released into space. No one has ever returned from Wondeath. When one goes there, no more memories can be made. Unless they lose their energy by being pierced, or use up their energy without replenishment, golafe live for an as yet undetermined period of time. Wondeath is a shadowy, unknown place, a central theme for a large portion of golafe mythology.

wontau -- (pl. wontaufe) This is a remembrance, made to resemble an asword. It is placed wherever a warrior has fallen in battle.

yongolafe -- Pretrained warriors. There is always the threat of possible attack from outside of Cosmos. Golafe are trained in the art of war from a very early age, even in times of peace. When a yongola is fully trained and ready for battle, there is a special ceremony.
